The Port Authority once again fully supports the celebration of the Virgen del Carmen festivities
The Port Authority of Marín will once again provide its full support, as it does every year, to the Marín Town Council for the development of events related to the Virgen del Carmen festivities. In this regard, the port is fully committed to the main maritime event: the maritime procession in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors, which will take place on July 16th aboard the fishing vessel “Nuevo San Cibrán.” Specifically, the afternoon procession, lasting approximately two and a half hours, will take place within the waters of the Pontevedra Estuary, with embarkation and disembarkation at the Ceferino Nogueira Wharf, covering a distance of up to 3 nautical miles. Furthermore, for the maritime procession, an internal barrier will be erected to facilitate access to the port area for those participating in the event. Furthermore, as part of the summer festivities, the Port Authority will provide a parking area in the fishing zone opposite the covered net drying area between July 10th and 16th, and another parking area on the esplanade of the New Commercial Dock in Marín. This latter parking area is for those invited to the traditional flag-swearing ceremony at the Naval Military Academy on July 16th. On that same day, the Port Authority also authorizes the City Council to launch fireworks from the tip of the breakwater on the Alcalde Antonio Blanco promenade. In addition, the City Council is authorized to install festive lighting on elements of Avenida de Ourense belonging to the Port Authority. For the Battle of Flowers parade, floats will be allowed to exit through the Nodosa gate, and a traffic diversion will be implemented from the gate in front of the shipyard to the exit at Plaza de España.
