Planned Security Investments to be Complemented by Improved Access Control
This morning, the Port Authority President convened users from the shipowners' departments to present, along with the Port's ICT technicians, the improvements to the closed-circuit television system. These improvements aim to provide greater security measures in the area occupied by these facilities. The plan is comprehensive for the entire port area, and the first phase will focus on reinforcing the departments' area with new cameras equipped with intelligent video analytics and increased lighting. These cameras will have higher resolution and range than the current ones and offer improved night vision capabilities. Furthermore, a project to increase lighting in this area by replacing the existing light poles with new LED projectors will be put out to tender. The Port Authority will undertake a significant investment in 2019 in various measures to improve security and control of vehicles and people. The number of cameras and the overall closed-circuit television system will be increased. Port police personnel have collaborated with technicians on the design of the new system, which will expand the number of cameras distributed throughout the port area to over one hundred, thus improving coverage. With a budget exceeding half a million euros, new high-resolution digital cameras with improved dynamic range will be installed to prevent glare and optimize visibility in adverse conditions. New functionalities will also be incorporated to facilitate vehicle tracking on different access roads and more efficiently locate people and vehicles in CCTV footage. The planned security investments will be complemented by improvements to port access control, streamlining the vehicle and personnel access accreditation system, upgrading the system equipment, and enhancing controls to prevent unauthorized access.
