The Port Authority hosts the last of the GALP presentation sessions for applications for aid for projects related to the fishing sector
The auditorium of the Port Authority of Marín and Pontevedra Estuary hosted this morning the last in the series of information sessions presenting aid for the fishing sector of the estuary, organized by the GALP (Local Action Group for the Fishing Sector).
These are subsidies for sustainable development projects in fishing, aquaculture, and other activities related to the marine environment, through the Xunta de Galicia (Regional Government of Galicia) and the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFF), for the municipalities within the GALP Pontevedra Estuary's area of influence (Marín, Bueu, Pontevedra, Poio, Sanxenxo, and Meaño). The President of the Port Authority, Jose Benito Suárez Costa, opened the event by welcoming attendees and encouraging them to take advantage of the opportunity to apply for grants to carry out projects in the areas of improving competitiveness, promoting the blue economy, safeguarding environmental and cultural heritage, and strengthening inter-regional cooperation.
The event also included the participation of Juan Rodríguez Aldao, director of Safricope, one of the port companies that has benefited from these grants in previous calls for proposals. He explained the advantages of applying for this funding. Laura Nieto, manager of the Local Action Group for Fisheries (GALP), explained to the attendees the requirements and procedures for applying for this funding, which has a total of €1.5 million available for the various projects.
