Ecuadorian Tuna Business Owners Visit the Port of Marín
This morning, the president of the Port Authority received Ecuadorian tuna business owners, led by Andrés CuKa, president of CEIPA (Ecuadorian Chamber of Tuna Processing Industries). Tuna is one of the products received at the Port of Marín as part of its frozen fish shipments, for which it serves as a key logistics hub for receiving, storing, and processing.
Most of Ecuador's tuna processing plants are located in the provinces of Manabí, Guayas, and Santa Elena, where tuna, one of the most sought-after species in global markets, is processed. Ecuadorian tuna business owners created CEIPA in 2002 to give a more international focus to tuna processing activities. The organization comprises a dozen companies that make up the tuna value chain.
Jose Benito Suárez Costa explained the competitive advantages for these types of products in the Port of Marín, where there are highly specialized companies involved in their transport, processing, and marketing. The CEIPA representatives were accompanied by executives from the company EDISA and completed their visit to port-based frozen food companies such as Cabomar and Protea to observe the operation of the Libra system, a comprehensive digital management software designed to improve process connectivity and traceability of services related to fishing activity.
