The UME tests robots acquired at the Port of Marín for deep-water data collection
The UME (Military Emergency Unit) has participated in several training sessions focused on testing and commissioning two Argus ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) units, acquired from the company Omil Offshore, based at the Port of Marín. These robots are capable of operating at depths of up to 600 meters. They are equipped with positioning systems, sonar, seabed profilers, and magnetometers. The objective was for UME personnel to acquire the fundamental skills required to pilot the ROVs, configure the units and their auxiliary equipment, and extract and interpret the data that this technology provides.
Argus ROVs are designed and built in Bergen, Norway. Omil Offshore, located at the Port of Marín, is the official distributor for this equipment, which can reach depths inaccessible to humans. These versatile units are controlled from the surface, allowing the pilot to send and receive information in real time. Furthermore, thanks to integrated manipulator arms, they can perform tasks such as cutting, or collecting water or marine sediment samples.
