The Port Authority of Marín has published the tender, through an open procedure, for the rehabilitation of the Mourisca beacon tower. The base budget for this project is €1,491,604.26 (excluding taxes), and the execution period is 11 months. Mourisca is a 13-meter-high tower with a green starboard lateral mark and a range of 5 nautical miles. It is a fundamental maritime signaling device for ensuring navigational safety within the Pontevedra Estuary. The project will address the need for structural reinforcement by strengthening the foundation and the concrete enclosure. This beacon tower, which was first activated on September 11, 1923, has already been rebuilt twice in the past due to damage caused by storms. Furthermore, Mourisca, along with the Os Camoucos tower, was one of the first facilities powered by photovoltaic energy, eliminating the need for acetylene gas fueling equipment. Currently, the Port Authority is also undertaking complex rehabilitation work on the Camoucos beacon tower, another of the estuary's main maritime signals.
