The Port Authority of Marín shares its experience with the implementation and governance of AI
Within the framework of the 9th Port ICT Conference, held this week in Vigo, Benjamín Paredes, Head of the ICT Division of the Port Authority of Marín, participated with a joint presentation with the Port of Castellón. Both ports shared their approach to designing a strategy for integrating artificial intelligence into port authorities.
This conference provides a forum for exchanging experiences on technology serving ports, attracting experts from Port Authorities, private companies, public bodies, as well as the university and academic sectors.
The port authorities of Marín and Castellón emphasized the importance of leading the change and taking the helm of governance, aiming to optimize processes through the effective use of these tools, while guaranteeing legal certainty and data sovereignty at all times. A key point they wanted to share is the importance of literacy and skills training, as this lays the foundation for improved performance, directly impacting competitiveness.
Finally, they presented case studies of artificial intelligence use cases for improving port operations, service delivery, and document management processes.
The Port Authority of Marín is working on a three-year AI implementation roadmap and a short-term plan of high-impact pilot projects.
This initiative is part of the port system's ongoing commitment to digitalization, which involves developing smart ports where AI can contribute to more efficient management and greater competitiveness.
