In 1896, Narciso Puig de la Bellacasa concluded the first project for the improvement of the Port of Marin installations. Among other works, this included a triple-lined jetty that was later reformed into a dual-lined quay. This change was the result of requests from the town councils of Cangas, Marin and Bueu, who advised that the Port had no need for a jetty of such proportions. Later projects included the addition of the avenue and Estribela pier.
In 1913, the State handed over all building works to the Board of Governors of the Port and Estuary of Pontevedra, in accordance with the provisions of the Royal Order of 28th October 1911. The main civil works involved were the Western shelter dock, the dual-lined Eastern Dock that ran further on from the existing jetty; the service road between both jetties including the metal bridge over the river Lameiriña and the river channel wall. The projects in Estribela were the shelter pier that ended with steps and the Eastern avenue.
Building on the Eastern and Western docks, with the access road by way of the metal bridge over the river, was concluded in 1911

In 1912, Marin had a 5-ton hand crane on the Western dock and a 3-ton crane on the Eastern dock, in the Zorroza de Bilbao wharves. The Port had had the lighting, access roads, electrical installations, warehouses, outbuildings and service areas required for its trade and fishing activities since 1913.
A ramp, that has now been turned into a pier, existed in the Estribela fishing basin to serve the 600 square metre municipal fish market designed in 1907. Note the Eastern avenue in the foreground. Building was concluded in 1913.
